Our projects & predictions for 2020

our projects &
predictions for 2020.

As every January, PharmaLinea is in full swing of exciting new product development projects. Innovating in new health areas and new delivery forms, we were asked by Nutrition Insight to share what are the trends in the supplement space and what projects we have in store.

growth & quality.

In the article, our S&R Director Maja Orešnik reveals some of our plans:

  • orodispersible powders in stick packs
  • new product lines targeting stress, oral health and pain
  • extension of our pregnancy product line

2020 is promising to be an exciting year, with the first new launches
coming already in spring.

The highest growth for the next 5 years is expected for Thailand and Vietnam, while the more mature market of South Korea is projected to exhibit less growth. However, the latter is already nearly 4 times the size of the UK market.

Klopčič went on to add: “The top-performing categories vary significantly from market to market, but the most common to take top positions are immune system, bone health, cognitive health, beauty and other health areas. The latter is a category where we often find products such as the ones addressing iron deficiency, where we are specialists. Our iron line has been in high demand because iron deficiency is typically more problematic in the region and the available solutions often come with drawbacks such as low absorption and side effects.

With markets evolving faster and faster and consumers in Southeast Asia demanding more and more from their supplement user experience, we are increasingly partnering with companies in the region by providing them with supplements in liquids, sachets, sprays, and other user-friendly product forms. Not to dismiss more traditional, yet still successful capsules and tablets.

We are currently working in Vietnam and South Korea and we are in various stages of registration processes in Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines. We have already seen 100% growth in business from Southeast Asia last year and we project the growth to rise to more than 150% with the launch of more products.”

This year we are expecting results of two clinical trials –
on our immunity and iron supplements.

The trials were designed according to gold standards and with them, we plan to fill the gaps in the two segments by providing our clients with clearly differentiated products and clinically proven efficacy. We are also successfully developing business in the region with solutions addressing sleep and prenatal supplementation.

In our view, the only way to get lasting consumer trust is to provide supplements with benefits one can feel and prove.

Iron & immunity in Asia – NutraIngredients-Asia interview

iron & immunity in Asia – interview.

At Vitafoods Asia 2019, local media took interest in our most successful product lines and our experience in Southeast Asia. NutraIngredients-Asia spoke to Chairman & Founder Blaž Gorjup about PharmaLinea’s plans for the region.

growth & quality.

Several factors contribute to our current position and projected growth in Southeast Asia.

“This year, we will be growing more than 100%, and for next year, our expectations are even higher,” states Gorjup. “Iron deficiency is common in Southeast Asia and there is quite a lack of stable and good tasting liquid products,” he adds. The interview also discusses PharmaLinea’s immunity line and the ongoing clinical trials on our immunity and iron products.

The highest growth for the next 5 years is expected for Thailand and Vietnam, while the more mature market of South Korea is projected to exhibit less growth. However, the latter is already nearly 4 times the size of the UK market.

Stability of finished products is an issue gaining publicity and momentum. This was highlighted by the recent article, published by NutraIngredients, in which PharmaLinea’s views and research were headlined.

survey results show low awareness.

Our Technical Director Denis Đalapa shared surprising statistics we found during a survey at Vitafoods Europe 2019 and commented on the general awareness of industry professionals on the likelihood of ingredients’ cross-interactions within finished products. The article by journalist Shane Starling also features expert opinion by third party laboratories and regulatory authorities, who confirm our concerns.

Recently, several industry media have reported on the subject.

This is another piece in the series of published content on the topic of stability by industry media (following the podcast by Vitafoods Insights and article on Natural Products INSIDER). Through such continuous education we intend to continue being ambassadors of the issue’s importance for the industry and end-users.

Immunity nutraceuticals: challenges, room for growth

With PharmaLinea’s expertise in immunity supplements being increasingly established, industry media once again invited us to share our insights.

  • extension of our pregnancy product line

2020 is promising to be an exciting year, with the first new launches
coming already in spring.

Our S&R Director Maja Orešnik has reviewed the immunity support supplements category for Natural Products Insider.

The article contains Orešnik’s summary of the science behind immunity supplements, the present market and what it lacks: ingredients bringing differentiation, clinical substantiation, innovative and user-friendly delivery forms, and stability testing. All of these are crucial steps for a complete, top-quality nutraceutical product development.

The highest growth for the next 5 years is expected for Thailand and Vietnam, while the more mature market of South Korea is projected to exhibit less growth. However, the latter is already nearly 4 times the size of the UK market.

We accepted to contribute one of the three articles in Vitafoods Insights’ Digital Magazine on Women’s health.

Maja Orešnik, our S&R Director, gave insights on the common obstacles encountered during development of complete and stable pregnancy supplements. Stability of the finished product is essential for its quality, safety and efficacy, and these three parameters are key to consumers, especially for sensitive populations such as pregnant women.

The highest growth for the next 5 years is expected for Thailand and Vietnam, while the more mature market of South Korea is projected to exhibit less growth. However, the latter is already nearly 4 times the size of the UK market.
