More cognitive health benefits of Centrum Silver
New results from the Cocoa Supplement & Multivitamin Outcomes Study (COSMOS) trials offer additional evidence regarding the benefit of Haleon’s Centrum Silver multivitamins on cognitive health in older adults. The original COSMOS trial randomised 21,442 participants to a daily cocoa extract supplement, Centrum Silver or placebo to evaluate the effect on reducing the risk of heart disease, stroke, cancer, and other health outcomes. COSMOS-Clinic, the third independent cognition trial to measure cognitive function and memory in older adults, echoed the findings of COSMOS-Mind and COSMOS-Web, which indicate that daily use of Centrum Silver resulted in significant improvements in memory tests. The researchers also looked at the combined data across all three studies (5,000+ non-overlapping participants), which each measured cognitive function and memory in slightly different ways. The findings demonstrate the consistent benefit daily use of Centrum Silver has on age-related cognitive function and memory.

Could Eidon’s Gludia aid MetS (metabolic syndrome) management?
Eidon Salus’ blood sugar management supplement Gludia could help manage metabolic syndrome and its resulting risk factors, concludes a paper in Nutrients (12 January). The University of Palermo and National Relevance & High Specialisation Hospital Trust ARNAS Civico study involved 58 participants aged 18+ years with a MetS diagnosis. Participants received either standard care for Type 2 diabetes or 2 sachets of Gludia a day (glucomannan 2,000mg/d; D-chiro-inositol 80mg/d; cinnamon 500mg/d; and inulin 400mg/d) for 16 weeks. The researchers recorded significant decreases in body weight and BMI among participants who took Gludia in addition to standard metformin treatment. They also reported a significant reduction in measures related to glycaemic control, such as insulin and the HOMA index, and significant improvements in total cholesterol, triglycerides and LDL cholesterol in the Gludia group.

Sleep, mood, and stress supplement brand Natrol (Vytalogy Wellness) suggests this is because they have “not got their sleep together”, therefore they lack the energy to exercise, in addition to the self-control to follow through with healthy eating plans and the stamina to have a productive day. As one of the official partners of global fitness brand Barry’s January “Find Your Strength” challenge, Barry’s locations across the USA will be hosting Natrol-themed “Wake Up Hour” workout classes designed to equip attendees with the tools and knowledge they need for optimizing sleep so they can conquer their health resolutions. Actor and TV host Terry Crews is also partnering with Natrol to help kick off and bring a motivating force to the campaign and awareness of the importance of quality sleep.
