NMN Could Improve Hair Health
NMN supplementation could increase hair length growth and mean hair diameter, according to a new study. On the other hand, total hair density reduced significantly, with researchers speculating that it was due to seasonal hair loss. An increase in metabolites suggests that NMN could support mitochondrial ATP production, vital to hair health. Based on visual analog scale (VAS) questionnaire findings, improvements were observed for fatigue and gray hair perception, hair parting and elasticity, and hair loss upon waking and shampooing.
Collagen Blend Might Support Joint Health
A new ex vivo study, pending publication, tested the efficacy of Symrise’s Chondractiv™ Plus, a combination of hydrolyzed chicken cartilage featuring type II collagen peptides, chondroitin sulfate, and hyaluronic acid. The results showed that supplementation with this powder blend decreased pro-inflammatory markers, slowed down cartilage degradation, and increased synthesis of cartilage components. Furthermore, the active promoted bone formation through osteoblasts differentiation and decreased bone resorption by down-regulating osteoclasts differentiation.
Algae Extract May Provide Prebiotic Benefits
New research on Oceanium’s Ocean Actives® H+ (SLE-F) suggested that supplementing with this fucoidan-rich Saccharina latissima algae extract could offer prebiotic benefits at a low-dose of 250 mg per day. Researchers observed an increase in beneficial short-chain fatty acids and helpful bacteria, with a high dose of SLE-F (1000 mg per day) causing the biggest shifts in microbiome diversity and reduction of inflammatory markers.
Curcumin Formulation Could Improve Joint Health
A new clinical trial on Maxicuma®, Ennature Biopharma’s proprietary curcumin formulation developed using LIMAN™ technology for higher bioavailability, showed that the ingredient could improve osteoarthritis (OA) symptoms. Adults with mild knee OA who took 100mg or 250 mg of Maxicuma® daily experienced reduced pain scores by 70%, reduced symptom severity scores by nearly 80%, and improved physical function by more than 90% compared to baseline.
Topical PEA Could Resolve Knee Pain
According to a new study, Gencor’s PlexoZome® Levagen® could be effective in relieving knee pain post-exercise. The product is a topical liposomal formulation of palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) and was applied in a spray form by participants experiencing knee discomfort following exercise. The results showed that 60 minutes from the start of the treatment, the PEA group experienced a 71% reduction in pain from baseline, compared to a 43% reduction in the placebo group.
Calanus Oil May Support Cardiac and Metabolic Health
A new study on Zooca® Calanus® Oil showed supplementation with this natural lipid zooplankton extract could improve metabolic as well as cardiac health. The study included middle-aged, obese women with prediabetes who received 4 grams a day of calanus oil for 12 weeks. Researchers reported improvements in diastolic heart function, decreased metabolic syndrome severity, and enhanced insulin sensitivity. However, the absence of a placebo control group limits definitive conclusions.
Mushrooms Could Bolster Prebiotic Activity
Supplementing with functional mushrooms may support healthy gut microbiome function, according to a new study. Participants received M2 Ingredients’ M2 Cordyceps 116™ and Myco-Multi™ whole mushroom powders, and both showed enhanced acetate and butyrate production compared to placebo, demonstrating distinct prebiotic characteristics.
Shatavari May Provide Perimenopausal Symptom Relief
Two new clinical studies were conducted on Waleria Healthtech’s aspurūs™, its proprietary shatavari root extract. The first study showed that supplementation with this active could reduce hot flashes, night sweats, anxiety, and depression in pre- and postmenopausal women. The second study revealed improvements in libido, arousal, and sexual satisfaction in reproductive-aged women who were experiencing a reduction in libido.
Microencapsulated Iron Might Outperform Conventional Options
New research on iron-deficient rats revealed that Lubrizol’s proprietary microencapsulated iron ingredient Lipofer® demonstrated a higher absorption rate and higher feed efficiency compared to ferrous bisglycinate and microencapsulated iron pyrophosphate. Additionally, Lipofer® reversed anemia in 14 days without causing gastrointestinal irritation.
SesZen-Bio™ Could Support Hair Growth
New clinical findings, which are yet to be published, showed that CK Nutraceuticals’ SesZen-Bio™ could support hair growth and scalp health when used as a nutricosmetic ingredient. This standardized Sesbania grandiflora extract is rich in bioactive flavonoids and antioxidants and is otherwise clinically researched for cardiovascular and metabolic health support.
Pistachio Extract Might Be Equally Effective as Melatonin
Researchers reported that supplementation with Network Nutrition’s Prosomnial™, a gummy containing a pistachio extract, could improve sleep latency, duration, quality, and feeling refreshed upon waking. The study, carried out on adults with self-reported difficulty initiating sleep, found that melatonin absorption from Prosomnial™ was comparable to that of synthetic melatonin.
Cucumber Extract Could Support Joint Function
A new clinical study on IminoTech’s Q-actin™, a cucumber extract (Cucumis sativus L.) standardized to over 18% idoBR1, could support joint function and pain reduction in adults with mild to moderate joint pain. Results were seen starting at 30 days of supplementation.
Collagen Peptide Might Diminish Wrinkles
New research found that daily low-molecular-weight collagen peptides might improve several signs of skin aging in adults within eight weeks, with benefits lasting two weeks after stopping. The study included healthy adults and tested a branded ingredient NS Collagen Peptide, delivering almost 75mg of the functional peptide Gly-Pro per day.
Omega-3 Might Protect Against Deep Vein Thrombosis
A new study suggested that increased levels of omega-3 fatty acids may reduce the risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE), particularly deep vein thrombosis. The data indicated that people with the highest average levels of omega-3s had a 28% lower risk of VTE compared to those with the lowest average levels.
Pomegranate Polyphenols Could Help Boost Longevity
Daily supplementation with Euromed’s high-polyphenol pomegranate extract Pomanox® could boost insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) for older adults, according to a new clinical trial. The pomegranate extract group, which received 740mg/day of Pomanox®, had a small but significant increase in circulating IGF-1 levels compared to unchanged levels in the placebo group. Telomere length was not affected in the study.
Mango Leaf Extract May Support Cognitive Health
PLT Health Solutions, Inc. and innovation partner Nektium Pharma announced the completion of a new clinical study on its mango leaf extract Zynamite® S. The results showed that supplementation with this ingredient could improve cognitive health. In the active group, researchers observed improvements in cognitive tasks related to selective attention, processing speed, and executive functions, with diminished negative emotional states such as confusion and tension. Zynamite®S is a next-generation formulation of Zynamite®, which is a patented, proprietary ingredient, standardized to a minimum of 60% mangiferin.

Researchers concluded that daily supplementation with hydroxytyrosol could protect against age-related disease.
Gut Microbiome Could Unlock New Mental Health Treatments
The microbiome could directly affect brain chemistry, stress responses, and behaviors, according to a review exploring the connection between gut and mental health. The reviewed clinical research also found disrupted gut patterns in conditions like depression and schizophrenia; psychiatric medications might change the microbiome; probiotics, diet changes, and fecal microbiota transplants could improve mood and anxiety, as suggested by early trials. Researchers emphasized the potential of clarifying the gut-brain axis in addressing mental health treatments.
