NMN Could Improve Hair Health
NMN supplementation could increase hair length growth and mean hair diameter, according to a new study. On the other hand, total hair density reduced significantly, with researchers speculating that it was due to seasonal hair loss. An increase in metabolites suggests that NMN could support mitochondrial ATP production, vital to hair health. A new clinical trial on Maxicuma®, Ennature Biopharma’s proprietary curcumin formulation developed using LIMAN™ technology for higher bioavailability, showed that the ingredient could improve osteoarthritis (OA) symptoms. Topical PEA Could Resolve Knee Pain
According to a new study, Gencor’s PlexoZome® Levagen® could be effective in relieving knee pain post-exercise. The product is a topical liposomal formulation of palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) and was applied in a spray form by participants experiencing knee discomfort following exercise. The results showed that 60 minutes from the start of the treatment, the PEA group experienced a 71% reduction in pain from baseline, compared to a 43% reduction in the placebo group.

The European Food Safety Authority published its 2025 Eurobarometer Survey on Food Safety in the EU, which is conducted every three years, and this time it includes all EU Member States and EU Candidate Countries combined. The data revealed:

Magnesium Ranked Favorite Supplement Among German Consumers
Researchers at the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment in Berlin revealed the data about the use of dietary supplements (DS) in over one thousand participants. Interesting findings include:

  • The use of DS was 76,9% among participants, with extremely varied motivations for use.
  • Minerals were the most used supplements, followed by vitamins.
  • Magnesium was the top individual DS, used by over half of participants, other common DS were vitamins D, B12, and C, along with zinc, calcium, and iron.
  • Previous research showed that 57% of adults in Germany used DS, 34-49% in the USA, 71% in Denmark, 53% in the Netherlands, 41% in France, 39% in Japan, and 54% in China.
  • A previous study identified four key factors linked to DS use: sociodemographic and health backgrounds, motivations like health management, information source (doctors or social media influencers), and personal attitudes toward supplements.
  • DS users were often female and younger, they were more health-conscious, more likely to seek health information, and better able to evaluate health information than non-users.
  • Among DS users, the most important motivations included illness prevention, nutrient provision, and maintaining or improving health. Motivations based on social trends or influencer recommendations were much weaker.
  • Researchers noted that health communicators should tailor messages to specific user segments and motivations.
