D-mannose Could Improve UTI Symptoms
A new clinical trial on UClear® (D-mannose), an ingredient developed by KEB Nutraceutical USA Inc., demonstrated that it could improve discomfort in UTI symptoms. Supplementation over 3 days during an acute UTI was shown to be safe and well-tolerated in the study population, resulting in diminished urgency, incomplete voiding, frequency of urination, and reduced growth of urinary microbes. The total UTISA severity scores were not significantly different between the supplement and placebo groups.
Shatavari Might Help with Perimenopause
A multi-institutional study on Xeya Modern Shatavari™ ingredient from NXT USA showed that the active could offer relief across a range of perimenopausal symptoms. The study involved women aged 40-50 in early perimenopause with mild-to-moderate vasomotor symptoms. The shatavari group demonstrated a reduction in several symptoms, including mood swings, anxiety, hot flushes, and dysmenorrhea. Furthermore, a dose-dependent modulation of estradiol and several other hormones was observed.
Oral Probiotic May Support Vaginal Health
A new clinical trial on probiotic strains L. gasseri CECT 30648 (Lg) and L. crispatus CECT 30647 (Lc), developed by Kaneka Corporation, showed that oral supplementation with Lg could promote vaginal health. This strain, previously tested in vitro to survive the oral-gut-vaginal route, was able to colonize the vaginal tract of healthy women and exert antimicrobial activity, while the strain Lc was not detected at any point during the trial.
Skin Microbiome Could be Linked to Visible Aging
Unilever researchers presented the first study to specifically compare the microbiome of people within a similar chronological age range (40-50 years old) but with different visible aging profiles. Subjects with delayed skin aging (DA) demonstrated a more resilient skin microbiome compared to a more fragile one demonstrated in premature aging participants (PA). Furthermore, the PA group was given a marketed product containing retinyl propionate, which showed improvements in age-related skin physiology while also shifting the microbiome to resemble that of the DA group.
PEA Could Modulate Microbiome Activity and Offer Stress Management Potential
Two new studies have been published on Gencor™’s PEA ingredient, Levagen+®.
The first study showed that it may influence specific microbiome activity, support a balanced inflammatory response, and aid in maintaining healthy triglyceride levels.
The second study involving female university students demonstrated that PEA could enhance resilience to stress. Results showed that 60 mg of PEA per day increased the Standard Deviation of Normal-to-Normal, a key heart rate variability marker associated with resilience to stress, while subjective stress and emotional measures didn’t show significant changes.
Quatrefolic® May Protect Skin Against Sun Damage
New research showed that Quatrefolic® could support healthy skin by protecting against sun damage. The results demonstrated that this bioactive form of folate reduced oxidative stress and damage from UVA exposure, improved skin cell viability, and DNA integrity. The study hasn’t been published yet.

Creatine Hydrochloride Might Support Menopause Well-Being
Researchers from the University of Novi Sad in Serbia concluded that supplementation with creatine hydrochloride enhanced cognition, increased frontal brain creatine levels, and favorably modulated serum lipid profiles in perimenopausal and menopausal women. Specifically, medium-dose creatine hydrochloride (1,500 mg/day) demonstrated a potential advantage over other treatments in reducing the severity of mood swings.
Lemon Flavonoids Could Enhance Metformin’s Effect and Preserve GLP-1 Levels
A new study on Ingredients By Nature®’s Eriomin®, a blend of eriocitrin and other lemon flavonoids, showed that the ingredient could enhance the effect of metformin in prediabetic individuals. Participants who took metformin in combination with Eriomin® saw improved postprandial glucose metabolism, a 5% reduction in glucose two hours after consuming sugar, and preserved active GLP-1 levels.
Okra and Ashwagandha Blend May Relieve GLP-1 Gastro-Intestinal Discomfort
New research suggests that NXT USA’s proprietary formulation, Digexin®, may help alleviate gastrointestinal issues in adults who are taking GLP-1 medication. Participants who supplemented this blend, which consists of okra fruit and ashwagandha root, reported improvements in digestive comfort and function including reductions in constipation, reflux, and swallowing difficulties. Furthermore, they experienced a reduction in perceived stress and an improvement in sleep quality. The preliminary findings have been submitted for peer-review publication.
Liposomal Delivery Format May Boost CoQ10 Bioavailability
A new study on Specnova’s Liposomal CoQ-10 revealed that this formulation, based on the company’s LipoVantage® technology, could improve the absorption efficiency of the CoQ-10. Liposomal CoQ-10 had a 31,3% higher maximum concentration and a 22,6% higher total drug exposure in the bloodstream over 24 hours compared to the non-liposomal CoQ-10 formulation.
